  • Description: Donna Dolezal Zelzer maintains this online library of articles, reviews, and other information about pregnancy and midwifery. The site is a good introduction to one midwife's outlook on mainstream medicine; Zelzer has strong opinions -- very strong -- about how many doctors handle birthing. The article "Gracious Births" announces that "Birth is not a clinical exercise. It is not a medical procedure. In nearly every instance, it should not be major surgery." (The same article introduced us to the term "birth abuse.") We also found an "Appeal For Indiana Midwife," from the state where it's a felony for any non-M.D. to deliver a baby. Visitors to this page can also explore the "HomeBirth Choice," get information on becoming a midwife themselves, or find out "What midwives want from their clients."
